Lottery Money Gone to Mexico

I don't know about you, but I'm about to lose my job due to the housing market and just found out that more will be laid off soon. Dell is laying off what, 700-800 people?  And then I tune into the local news and discover that a man in Austin won the scratch off lottery where it pays out $5,000 a week for 20 years.  I thought, "good for him." But then I discovered the rest of the story - he moved back to his home in Mexico. Go figure.

A call to all teachers

You know your students spend too much time on social networking sites. Good or bad, its the new reality of how they interact.  Its their medium of choice.

Can this behaviour be changed?  I think not. And why should it?

Can this medium be put to some good use?  I think so. Should participation actually be encouraged? I think so again.

Happy Thanksgiving; That's All.

I mean it. No deep thoughts, just happy thanksgiving.

An Opinionated Bloggers Creed

I am possibly the most opinionated individual you are apt to run into. That being said, I’ll launch into one of my favorite subjects, ”Professional Entertainers”. By my definition, a professional entertainer is one who entertains the public and gets paid for it. Now that's pretty straight forward. This embraces actors, athletes, and anyone who gets paid by the public as they ply their trade.

Where's this going? Its really simple, actors use makeup and costumes and phony accents. Athletes use costumes and pharmaceuticals to enhance their performance.

Much Ado About Air Safety

There's much ado about air traffic safety, with most of the problems occurring around the busy “Hub” terminals. In reality it doesn’t take a rocket scientist mentality to solve this problem, just common sense, pure logic and computer regulated aircraft spacing.

There Is A God!

There is a God!

A brilliant (and thoughtful) individual has come up with a jamming device, (albeit illegal), that can quiet the rude cell phone user. This brings to mind walking through a mall and observing the cell phone addicts at play.

The portable blocker is about the size of a pack of cigarettes and has a range of around 30 feet. The big kahuna that has a much larger range sells for around 1,000 dollars, and is perfect for use in a restaurant, classroom, hospital or church setting.

What's wrong with this equation?

I love the Austin American Statesman!

Here's the latest in the what's wrong with this equation?

“Wynn proposes new rail project”; Front page 10/26/2007.

“This will be an extremely expensive undertaking, and Cap Metro isn’t in a position to finance it. And I’m not sure anyone else is, either”. Howard Falkenberg, Chairman of the Capital Area Transportation Coalition. page A13 same article as above, 10/26/2007.

“Dell begins cuts in local work force” Front page Business & personal finance section of the same issue, same date.

Initial.

Something has manifiested itself over the last six years -- specifically since 9/11/01.  Manifested, because the convulsion seems too large to have been caused by one event, even one as incredibly tragic.
