Meg Whitman, the former boss of eBay is running for governor of California. And she should. So should more people that know anything about running a business and nothing about politics. Not that she does not know about politics, who doesnt. But she know how to run a business and that is what we need right now, as Washington is spending billions and has no idea what they are doing.

In today's day and age we should not judge anyone by what they do in 100 days.
- Posted by citizenKA 100 day test may be a tradition, but since people actually watch and pay attention to what the media does, is dangerous.
What is the point in trying to determine whether a mere human being can do anything in 100 days? You do know that we now live in a global economy? You do know that we have more complex issues than anyone can handle over a span of several decades, let alone years?
This 100 review is a tradition whose' day has come. How about a quaterly review? How about a mid term review?
Chad's Economic Tidbits
- Posted by Chad.Mitchell8Hi, Everyone this my first post on this forum, so I wanted to take a second and reflect on our current economic state.
I feel at this point that the president strongly believes that spending more money right now will put us in a better position to compete in the future marketplace.
Tea Party madness.
- Posted by AllenOK. So what is the deal with these tea parties? Is there nothing good on tv? Why are these people out there? Big government? High taxes?
I think they are protesting for they know not what they protest against.
Lets try this for a while: no government, i.e.
No public schools...pay for your own schooling.
No public roads...pay tolls to some private entity.
No police or firefighters...hire your own for protection.
No social security...just save.
No minimum wage...
No health insurance...pay for it yourself.
No disaster relief...
Is Rush Limbaugh the voice of the Republican party? Its about time!!
- Posted by JackRegardless of your point of view, the answer is a resounding YES.
Actually, Rush says the things all republicans have wanted to say for a long time. They are not the party of inclusion, or compassion, or of rational reason, or tolerance.
They are the party of the wealthy. They are the party of the poor who have nothing to cling to other than guns and religion and dont realize how they are taken advantage of by the rich.
They are the party that drapes itself with the american flag which is the modern day version of the white sheets of the KKK.
Let Congress be the Guiny Pigs
- Posted by AllenHere is my thought for the holidays.
First, lets remember that members of Congress are a diverse group. There are male and female senators and congressmen; some have families; some are young; some are old; some are straight; some are gay. In other words, they represent a good cross segmemt of the population, i.e. great for this experiment.
Second, any new national plan, should be tried out on them and their families first, before introducing it to the rest of us.
For example, universal health care, any changes in medicare or medicade, etc.
A quote from the President-Elect
- Posted by bogdanObama has said: "I will open the doors of government and ask you to be involved in your own democracy again."
Sounds a lot like saying "tell me your idea and I will listen".
So...Lets take him up on his invitation and start posting your ideas on issues and causes that need change.
How to Explain McCain and Obama Economics to an 11 Year Old
- Posted by bmasseyHow do you explain the differences between the McCain and the Obama economic plans in a way that an 11 year old will understand? Well, my 11 year old had got the assignment to do just that.
I was embarrassed by what we found on the sites of the two Presidential candidates themselves.
Other sources were equally as skewed toward one or the other.

Celebrity Endorsements
- Posted by AlmostThereMy interest in this thread is less about celebrity endorsements of specific candidates. That's their prerogative.
I have been following this year's Rock the Vote campaign, and I've been really shocked at the sheer number of celebrities who have signed on in support of this initiative. The whole idea is that it's a non-partisan call to young people to cast a ballot, which I think is great, but I'm sort of torn on the issue.
