Hillary and McCain forget they are Senators

Both Hillary Clinton and John McCain are in favor of a gas tax holiday.

Stupid idea, but that is not the point.

If they really, really believe in this nonsense, all they have to do is propose some legislation. Remember, they are senators. They can actually do that.

Will they. Never. \

What is wrong with the voting public. Why do they believe in anything some politician says just because it means some more beer money.

Are we really all just Homer Simpsons???

Failure by Filibuster

It’s the end of the year and a good time to take stock of what we’ve accomplished over the last year. What were you hoping the Democratically-controlled Senate would have accomplished in 2007?

Much Ado About Air Safety

There's much ado about air traffic safety, with most of the problems occurring around the busy “Hub” terminals. In reality it doesn’t take a rocket scientist mentality to solve this problem, just common sense, pure logic and computer regulated aircraft spacing.

Cookin' Oatmeal

As a writer, I frequently fall back on using a analogy to make a point. Today is one of those times.

The analogy is comparing what the United States needs to help settle world peace as compared to cooking oatmeal on top of a gas stove.

What's wrong with this equation?

I love the Austin American Statesman!

Here's the latest in the what's wrong with this equation?

“Wynn proposes new rail project”; Front page 10/26/2007.

“This will be an extremely expensive undertaking, and Cap Metro isn’t in a position to finance it. And I’m not sure anyone else is, either”. Howard Falkenberg, Chairman of the Capital Area Transportation Coalition. page A13 same article as above, 10/26/2007.

“Dell begins cuts in local work force” Front page Business & personal finance section of the same issue, same date.

NASA Administrator Screws Up, Big Time!

This seems to be my week to write complaints.

As a tax payer I will jump in the middle of politicians and/or bureaucrats in general with reckless abandon, this is one of those times.

The TV and newspapers have both taken up the gauntlet having to do with NASA’s high handed attitude that the federal government will follow we citizens from the cradle to the grave and this is a prime example of just that!

"Do Senators Vote Anymore?"

The following are not my words, just my research.

The quote is from Parade Magazine’s Intelligence Report, of October 21, @007.

QUOTE:

In one recent week, the Senate passed 153 bills--without voting on a single one. Instead, the measures were “hotlined,” or approved by what's called, “unanimous consent”.

How it works: Harry Reid, the Democratic leader, and Mitch McConnell, the Republican leader, agree to pass a bill.

Think It Over

The problem that the middle East citizens face is one that seemingly goes back many, many generations. They just can’t seem to get it that the way to solve their differences is at the negotiating table, but they insist on the route of killing one another.

We who are citizens of the United States have spent a couple of hundred years or so trying to settle differences in the same fashion. We really have not settled anything nor solved our problems any better than our neighbors to the East.

Why Do I Write?

I am occasionally asked why I write a blog, in my case it is four blogs, often on the same subject matter. Actually it amounts to four as they fall into a somewhat liberal newspaper, the Austin American Statesman, a conservative My Fox Austin, and an independent, http://www.tellmeyouridea.com/.

There is a simple reason for this diversity, the most important being that I do not feel so self important that I tell my readers what to think or vote. I often refer to myself as an on balance independent, and try to see all sides of any given question.
