I saw an ad from a business group today - a gentleman standing in front of tractors in a field saying how he would not expand his business by 20 - 30 people if Barack Obama is elected. I thought it was a very effective ad except that he didn't have the facts straight.
Paying taxes is unpatriotic, or so we have been told by the Republican Vice-presidential candidate, Governor Sarah Palin of Alaska. Thence comes forth Senator Obama, who chatted with "Joe the Plumber" while campaigning in Ohio. I'm bothered that the only 3-second sound bite from their 5-minute discussion was "share the wealth". That in itself should tell you there is more to the story. But now she calls Senator Obama a socialist. Pretty harsh, if you ask me, but this is sound-bite politics.
He is taking on Senator Cornyn. David vs Goliath to be sure, but give the guy credit for his passion.

Any elected official who intends to win office or to retain that office had best work for a solution of withdrawal. The Russians lost in Afghanistan because they attempted to shore up a sympathetic puppet government, and we're walking down that same road in Iraq.
Why are we so surprised that the City Of Austin runs its nick nack store like any other governmental business...at a loss...with tax payer money...and with unethical and possibly illegal contracts.

Prediction...the city council and the mayor will hire a consultant to study the issue at our expense and report the obvious...SHUT IT DOWN!!!!!
The Austin School District appreciates The Education Trust for spotlighting a serious concern of public education today, i.e. ensuring that all children are taught by highly effective teachers. These reports surface a national issue that Austin ISD has been working to address in its schools for several years: that differences exist in the experience levels, and therefore in the expenditures on salaries, of teachers working in schools serving divergent populations of students.
