DEMOCRAT-PROGRESSIVE TRUCE FOR 2008:
How many of the Democratic candidates are willing to appoint and support Ralph Nader as Attorney General of the United States?
Not Vice President, not even a member of the Cabinet. Attorney General. Any Democrat willing to commit to that could get my vote, and surely that of millions more.
Isn't that something we can all agree on? I mean, nobody questioned Ralph Nader's motives or status in 1999. Once upon a time he was a hero to the Democrats. We should not let the lingering emotion of defeat force us to blacklist one of the most effective public advocates of the last 100 years.
A Democrat who would make Ralph Nader his (or her) Attorney General would show that they would not allow our country to be bought and victimized by corporate interests. And as an independent, Nader would be a welcome and thunderous change to the corruption and hollow judgment that have been the norm for the Dept. of Justice under Janet Reno, John Ashcroft, and most certainly under Alberto Gonzales. With Nader as Attorney General, we would be guaranteed a full investigation into the runup of this Iraq war, the healthcare and banking industries, Halliburton, and the current mess caused by the political cronyism within the Department.
Does anyone believe Nader would not tackle these issues even during his first week as Attorney General? We have the most conservative, right wing Supreme Court since the days of slavery. It will still be there after 2008. Who better to face off against it?
If the Democrats want to prove that liberalism was not a passing fad for them, their Presidential candidates should back Ralph Nader as Attorney General. They would be surprised at the number of progressives who return to the fold.
... Or would they rather lose this thing again and again and again?

Not only do I agree with
Not only do I agree with your suggestion, I think that all presidential candidates should announce their picks for cabinet positions.
