Left leaning folks keep asking to:
... bring the troops home and end the illegal war in Iraq.
Have these left leaning folks dug deeper into their very own souls to understand why they want this so badly?
Probably not.
If so, they'd realize eventually that most of this sentiment comes simply from their political desires to hurt George W. Bush, his reputation and his legacy, by any means necessary. This includes his policy that lead to the conflict in Iraq.
I'm right, you know I'm right and if you say otherwise, you're lying to yourself.
I'll give you three reasons why.
1) prominent Democratic Senator, Joseph Biden, recently insisted that we send troops to Darfur, Sudan to end the genocide that's plaguing that area.
I haven't heard one word from the folks at MoveOn.Org, challenging this suggestion.
That's because its an idea fostered in the name of "helping oppressed human beings"; and it was offered by a Democrat.
No one at MoveOn.Org even bothers to notice the irony of Senator Biden's request. Simple stuff here: in going into Iraq, and President Bush clearly stated that we were doing in part, to enforce one of the United Nations mandates that Suddam Hussein stop persecuting millions of Kurds, millions of Shiite Muslims and thousands of Marsh Arabs--and we uncovered nearly 1 million bodies from these persecuted groups littered in mass graves all over Iraq.
However, Biden and others see it as imperative that we use the military to quell the suffering in Darfur.
Hum.
2) Anyone can tell you that democracy is a far more liberal and freedom-friendly form of government (than most others you find on this planet). However, in trying to help the Iraqi people build a democracy, George W. Bush is considered a "monster", a "Hitler (or Nazi)" and a "greedy warmonger" by groups like MoveOn.Org, Cindy Sheehan, et al.
I have never understood how so many in the West could be opposed to helping the people of Iraq, by military means if necessary, to build a (mostly) peaceful democracy in an area that's only known evil dictators, occupying nations and greedy kings.
What happened to pushing for human rights; the call for freedom and democracy?
I'll tell you what happened: if GW Bush is the champion of such things (for Iraq), then no liberal democratic voter in this country is going to side with him for one moment. They can't. It would mean they've taken sides with him on even a singular issue. That can't happen.
Again, the ugly head of "hatred for Bush" appears.
Let me remind you all: nobody and I mean nobody is better at nation building that the US. We rebuilt or helped and even paid to rebuild countless nations after WW2. We also stood by and paid big money to help South Korea. And, we've stood by and used our dollars and our military forces to insure the safety of Taiwan and Western Europe. We also tried to save South Vietnam and would have succeeded, had it not been for these very left-wing nuts I'm writing about today; they can't stand to support a cause if they didn't think it up first.
VERY SELFISH!
What would Lincoln have done if groups like MoveOn.Org popped up after the battle of Antietam? Nearly 10,000 dead soldiers in one week of fighting. What if they'd stood up and screamed, "Bring the troops back home. The cost of human life to our soldiers is just too much to bare..."?
Should even I mention what would have happened if Lincoln had given up?
I dare you all to ask any African American citizen that question.
3) Iran wants to control the Middle East. Like their Persian forefathers did in the past. Iran currently stands in defiance of the whole World in its desire to obtain nuclear weapons. Iran continually funds terrorist activities in Lebanon and Israel. They send weapons and money to terrorist operatives in Iraq and Afghanistan. They harbor known terrorists like Mullah Omar and others, within Iranian borders.
All this is widely known.
Yet, everybody is screaming and yelling for us to get our troops out of Iraq.
Do you not see that by having our military sandwiched between Syria and Iran, we stand in the way of Iran trying to physically take land from Iraq, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, Syria, etc?
We left troops in South Korea, Japan and Germany after WW2 and it helped thwart communist expansion efforts in Korea, Western Europe and other parts of Southeast Asia.
Yes, we were not able to stop communism from conquering South Vietnam, nor were we able to help Cambodia. But, we tried!
The left in this country saw to it that we failed in both situations. The result? The killing fields of Cambodia. Misery, poverty and hunger in Vietnam.
So what happens if we vacate Iraq?
Based on history and current events in the region, I estimate that at the very least: Iran will seize political control of Iraq--another 1/3 of the worlds known untapped oil reserves (giving them nearly 60%); millions dead as the Shiites fight to control the Sunnis; Iran would then be at the doorsteps of Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Jordan and Syria--and have no territorial blocks between Iran and Israel; Iraq becomes another government sponsored haven for Al Qaeda training camps... etc, etc, etc...
All that, just to get back at George W Bush because you disagree with his politics?
Wow.

During WWII the country of Yugoslavia, where fighting between the different religions had been going on for centuries, came together under Marshal Tito to fight the Nazis. Using guerilla tactics Tito ruled with an iron hand, much like Saddam. After the death of Tito, they were back at it again----Serbia, Armenia, Bosnia, etc.
The similarity between Yugoslavia at that time and Iraq at this time is too real.
Keeping our heads in the clouds is futile and expensive. I am not left leaning, but just realistic. After all no one ever conquered Yugoslavia.
Remember that Yugoslavia was a communist nation after WWII, but Tito had his own brand of communism. And Moscow left him alone rather than invading Yugoslavia as they did all the other communist countries that tried to change their ways;. After Tito's death, the different religions went at it again.
