Last night's republican debate sickended me.
The constant link between 9/11 and Iraq makes the candidates either stupid or intentionally misleading in face of now uncontroverted evidence that one had nothing to do with the other.
When did immigration become an issue of national security. NOT EVERYTHING IS NATIONAL SECURITY. STOP TRYING TO SCARE US. WE ARE NOT THAT STUPID.
None of the candidates believe in evolution. All think however that teaching it in schools is OK and should be left to the local school boards to decide. Figure that one out.
I can hardly wait to see Thompson the actor and Newt the whatever join this circus.

Amen! Fear is not a platform!
It is ironic that the wealty republican candidates are the ones who have the most to lose, but preach fear to the rest of the "ordinary Joe's" in this country. The irony lies in the fact that if "ordinary Joe" ever stepped up and voted for the candidates looking out for him/her, the republicans WOULD lose control.
So, maybe fear is a good platform for them!
If fear isn't a platform,
If fear isn't a platform, then the Democrats have nothing to stand on:
--Fear of global warming (a bunch of hooey that will be exposed in due time)
-- Fear of Republicans trying to destroy Social Security by reforming it
--Fear of responding to terrorists because it might make the world mad at us
--Fear of children starving and not getting healthcare
--Fear of tax cuts that supposedly favor the rich
--Fear of giving parents school choice because it might destroy our wonderful public schools
--Fear of tax reform that could do away with the IRS
Fear is what the Democatic party feeds off. Emotions and fear.
Allow me to address your
Allow me to address your points, kmitch:
1) First, please tell me where you obtained your advanced degree in climate science. Until you respond otherwise, I will just assume that like all the politicians talking about this issue, you haven't got one--unlike the leading researchers from 150 countries who all agree that global warming is real.
And even if it were "hooey," as you claim, wouldn't you like to curb pollution instead of coughing and wheezing from all the garbage in our air and water? If yes, we'll have to take the same measures to do that as we would to stop global warming. So we're stuck with it.
2) "Reforming" something and "destroying" it are not always two different things. Just ask Henry VIII, Martin Luther, or the Founding Fathers. The question is do you think social security is worth keeping. Yes or no? Give an honest answer and let's go from there.
3) Fighting terrorists won't make anyone mad. The same can't be said for torture, invasions, occupations, and lying or misleading people in order to get away with those things. You must know, there is usually a right way to do something and a wrong way.
4) If children are starving and not getting health care, we should be afraid! We should be ashamed of letting something like that happen here, even to just one child. You can get behind that, can't you?
5) Do you think there's such thing as a tax cut that doesn't favor the rich? I think the problem is support for tax cuts that only favor the rich.
6) School choice is fine, but using public money to finance religious instruction is not. And that's a problem if parents send their children to otherwise private, parochial schools. If you don't believe me, look in the Constitution. It's in there. You won't have to read too far before you find it. If a state's education money were divided equally among all school districts, instead of wealthier districts financing their own schools and poorer cities having to make do, that would help a lot. And the kids wouldn't have to travel so far either.
7) Aha! You just backed up the point I made in #2! You said: Tax "reform" that could "do away with" the IRS. See , you're getting it. Reform = destroy.
But destroy the IRS? Who's afraid of that?
