Hi, Everyone this my first post on this forum, so I wanted to take a second and reflect on our current economic state.
I feel at this point that the president strongly believes that spending more money right now will put us in a better position to compete in the future marketplace.
I do not feel that these policies will do a lot for our current situation, but investing in our infrastructure right now can produce benefits for us in the future. However we could make these some of the same investments while cutting the budget of useless spending that is not helping the country. Frankly it was an insult for the president to boast about cutting 100 million from the federal budget of the 3 trillion dollars that we are going to spend. I am certain we can cut more useless spending than that and allow us to cut taxes across the board. The president is right the average American needs a tax cut. However those tax cuts mean nothing if small businesses and people who create jobs taxes increase. In American we have made it a disincentive to do business here. We have the highest corporate tax rate of any civilized nation. So when the President talks about bringing jobs about back to this country from overseas I want to know how he plans to do that. I am also tired of hearing about President Obama inheriting this mess. If you haven't guessed I hold strong conservative principles on economic issues, and as a conservative I was just as upset with President Bush's economic policies as many democrats were. I was upset for different reasons though. Bush's policies of spend spend spend and tax very little hurt this economy. I will give Bush a pass on the fact that we did have to finance two wars, however real conservatives would have cut useless spending in Washington which not just Bush refused to do, but also the Republicans who generally run as a conservative refused to do when they had complete control of congress. This has been hurtful to the conservative movement, because the general public believes that conservative policies and Bush's policies are one in the same which is frankly not true. President Obama continues to voice that "the American people have spoken; we tried these policies for 8 years, and they did not work". So Mr. President the Bush policy was to cut spending and taxes across the board? I don't think so because thats the alternative plan conservatives in Congress have given you right now. It is not the Bush policy. The Bush administration failed to lead with conservative economic principles as well as Republicans in Congress.
I also want to address the issue of regulation specifically in housing market. Their are two reasons why we had this collapse. 1) Regulations on the books were not enforced. 2) Our Financial Services Committee in Congress encouraged banks to drop some and make easier some of their lending requirements. This was another effort by liberals to somewhat social engineer. We have credit for a reason as well as payment down requirements. These mortgage companies were encouraged to do this in an effort to boost home ownership of lower income individuals and minorities. Once again instead of trying to fix the underlining cultural problems in this country we instead prefer instead mash potatoes. We need results now and fast. This is also the problem with our school systems although the current administration wants you to believe that we aren't throwing enough money at the problem, yet we continue to take competition out of our schools. A lot of America's current troubles can be traced to cultural issues from every front not a lack of funding. Liberal ideas are based the fact that all human beings have the same ambition to succeed. Therefore, if someone is not performing at a high level it is not due to a lack of ambition or ability. It is however due to the lack of opportunity. Most Americans would agree that two humans with the same opportunity will not produce the same result. I would also like to add that by me saying this I am not by any means saying that these corporations deserve no blame whatsoever. They are at fault as well for the current mess we are in, but Congress wants you to believe that they had nothing to do with the collapse which is simply not true. Just watch what Barney Frank said about the hosing market a few years back. He didn't foresee any problems. Hmmm Imagine that.

Why the housing market
Why the housing market failed? Personal responsibility. Take the time and research how much house you can afford. The Bank's job is to make money, not hold someone's hand like a child. Do the grunt work before you go McMansion shopping.
You may be right, however,
You may be right, however, in politics perception means everything and reality means nothing.
And that sir is why its the
And that sir is why its the job of the people to speak the truth and try to take the political games out of the debate. "When people fear the government that is tyranny;when the government fears the people that is liberty"--Thomas Jefferson
If we don't bring common sense back into the debate and fight for truth we could easily turn around in 10 to 20 years and see an America that we did not realize we were voting for. The sad thing is for it not to happen something major has to change. Right now it doesn't matter who you vote for its never going to bring real change. Really it just determines if you want a fast death or a slow death. I would love to see a major change in politics from the ground up that will really represent what American's want from the government.
Well Arlen Specter switched
Well Arlen Specter switched parties purely for political reasons. He didn't switch because of Obama. He switched because he was going to lose in 2010 if he ran as a Republican. He switched more for self preservation then anything else. I am also not an Obama hater. I can spread enough blame to Republicans and Democrats alike.
Any new president that can
Any new president that can make a senator from the opposing party (Arlen Specter in this case) switch parties in the first 100 days must be doing something right!!
