Is it time to re define the american dream?

What is the American dream?

Home ownership? An abundance of material things? Fame? Fortune?

Probably all of the above.

And therein lies the problem.

We have build an entire economy on the accumulation of things we cannot afford without CREDIT.  We are only the most prosperous nation because we buy more things than anybody without really being able to afford it. We are not blessed. We had too much credit.

Its time to rethink. Credit is no longer king. We are no longer king.

How about we define the american dream as having a job; saving; being self reliant; being responsible; get my point!!

There is an excellent

There is an excellent on-line presentation called, "The Story of Stuff" that demonstrates how, after WWII, a concerted effort was made to create a consumer economy in the U.S.  It grew the economy at rates previously unknown, but, as we are now realizing, it did so in an unsustainable fashion.  This should be shown in every high school in America.
