Austin Sillionics

A few years ago a guy by the name of Bill Clinton gave me many opportunities to use when I was writing a weekly column. Now I get another golden oportunity to use the Austin and Texas road budgets, wow!

The Austin city council has apparently never heard of a balanced budget, so they subscribe to the tax and spend school of thought and if that's not enough of squandering the publics money they have to pump in Cap Metro and a few more "toll roads" to round up the meld.

It appears that it makes no difference that there are many folks who serve the Austin public that are working at or below the minimum wage and have to forget family responsibilities by working two jobs just to get from pay day to payday.

I am prone to ask, where are the hearts of those overpaid public servants who form the leadership club?

They darn sure are not the caring Austin folks I knew several generations ago. I wonder where were their parents who were supposed to teach them their civic responsibilities? They are so complacent with their over blown salaries that they think they are somehow better that the average citizens.

Me, I live by choice as one of those these folks hate the most, in my little urban sprawl and when my wife and I both retire already have found another reason to avoid visiting and or shopping in Austin or Travis county. I'm quite sure that these folks don't really give a damn where we live, but if we should have the predicted recession (read, depression) and they are looking for more sources of revenues to waste, Judy and I will just sit back and enjoy our planned retirement and watch the political fall out hit.

Please don't forget todays historical date and offer our prayers for those whose lives were cut short, and for our military men and women who have volunteered to keep us safe.

God bless them and these United States.
